CARL NEWTON
Author of What’s My “Popcorn?”

Raised in Fresno, California, Carl describes growing up with instability and the lasting effects it had on his sense of identity and confidence.

At 33, a friend introduced him to a support group. Hearing other people speak openly about their experiences became a turning point: he began to feel less isolated and more able to participate in his own life.

In What’s My “Popcorn?”, he brings together personal recollections, reflections from his recovery, and familiar metaphors to explore difficult subjects in everyday language.

His intention is to offer readers a sense of common ground and encourage honest reflection as they pursue their own paths forward.

In Carl’s words

Why I wrote
this book.

This book is a summation of a life dedicated to reclaiming emotional freedom. In it I have used many of my own thoughts and experiences as metaphorical examples, in the hope that others would find commonality through illustrative examples. It is my sincere wish that those who read the revealing personal stories and experiences I shared here will be encouraged to approach their therapy and recovery with the same degree of self-challenging honesty, that they may enjoy the benefit of the most effective recovery.
